Our weekend in Paris for Salon de la Lingerie

We started off our exciting trip to Paris in style in Business Class on the wonderful Eurostar where the champagne was flowing. Upon arrival we went straight to our hotel to leave the bags and headed out to Saint Germain to explore. After a really large pizza, a walk along the Seine was needed before lights out and dreams of a wonderful weekend ahead.

Le Salon de la Lingerie is the world’s largest trade show and it is here we meet all our clients and old friends. Our organisers located us in a fantastic position next to some fellow award winning designers and a new area dedicated new trends, ready to rock roll, the show doors open.

Having been fairly relaxed as we always are, we were delighted to welcome new boutiques from across the globe, all loving the uniqueness and luxury of Lucile. We welcome Greece, Estonia, New York, Hong Kong and Japan to the Lucile family.

One of our highlights was seeing the delightful Sarah from Odysssey Boutique in Edinburgh. We excitedly learnt that we have had 100% sell through from our last season – yep – everyone is loving the Lucile fit and designs – there is literally nothing left in stock so the new season orders are piling up.

The three cheese croissants, the double cheese pizzas, and the mozzarella salads are now a cause for concern, however, there is nothing like a coca-cola to wash it down. Tonight we are off to dinner at the famous Krishna Bhavan restaurant in Saint Germain where we will have a much needed break from bread and cheese.

Why we love Odyssey Boutique in Edinburgh

The Lingerie Awards have just been and gone, all too quickly.   We are so delighted that one of our favourite stockists, Odyssey Boutique, has been listed within the top four Independent Boutiques in the United Kingdom.

Boutique owner, Sarah Connelly, has supported Lucile from our very humble beginnings to our international status.  Odyssey prides itself on stocking some of the best British brands available and the customer service is second to none.

So, a message to all our friends and clients in Scotland, please pop into this fantastic boutique in the heart of Edinburgh, you will be delighted at what you will discover.

Customer Feedback at an all time high.

So, here at the Lucile offices, we take the upmost care with all aspects of our customer services.  Here is some feedback we felt we had to share with everyone.

Thank you for a lovely visit last Thursday.  I never thought in a million years I'd be able to wear a balcony bra! It is a dream come true after everything I have recently been through.  I look forward to visiting again and adding to my collection.

I received my package today and am overwhelmed by the presentation. I didn't even want to unwrap the box, but when I did, I saw the most exquisite packaging I have ever seen! I haven't been able to bring myself to open the breathtaking red ribbons! I will try to force myself in a few hours. I think you must have the best job in the world to be surrounded by such beautiful garments and make women around the world deliriously happy.

Dear Lucile Team

I cannot thank you enough for all you help with my wifes gift. Maison De Grande

A more lace inspired look with the rich red ‘Maison De Grande Luxe’ collection. Pairing the boudoir bra with the lace detail knickers and finally adding the chic bed jacket. The collection is crafted from unique Leavers lace, delicate gold thread is intricately interwoven into a beautiful floral design, and this is complemented with the purest of silks to give truly luxurious lingerie. The understated elegance of this collection echoes original Lucile designs that date back over 100 years.

A Lucile Heat Wave

As we are at the start of a summer heat wave we here at Lucile have created a guide to keeping bright in the raising summer heat!

Shortness of Time

All trends this season point towards nude shades, one of our shades is the soft tea rose pink hue of the ‘Shortness of Time’ collection.

Inspired by Lady Duff Gordon’s stunning gown designed for Elinor Glyn in the early 20th Century, who said she never wore “anything but the palest pink lingerie.” This collection is truly feminine in Tea Rose Pink silk, a colour created exclusively for Lucile. Adorned with beautiful lace and bow embellishments, it is the stunning attention to detail that makes this collection utterly luxurious. A perfect fit to enhance a stunning silhouette.

Sweetness of Love

A striking white look is perfect for this summer trend and is a hidden gem in keeping cool! ‘Sweetness of Love’ is our Lucile crisp white collection this summer; beautiful and romantic, crafted from rich Leavers Lace and the purest silk. Embracing love and adoration, this collection draws inspiration from the famous Bridal Trousseau created from King Alfronso of Spain's new Bride in 1906. Embellished with signature ivory bows, and with elegant gold detailing – this collection encapsulates the true essence of Lucile, sumptuously feminine.

Love While You May

A feature in all our collections is stunning hand-cut lace! Lace is a common look in the summer trends, as well as simply stylish it is light and airy, a Lucile favourite for keeping cool in our truly British heat wave.

Lucile’s contrasting lace collection ‘Love While You May’ is a perfect mix for the summer heat wave, the collection embodies femininity and combines unashamed playfulness and intoxicating romanticism in equal measure. It is in this collection that Lucile's signature Leavers lace is used to wonderful effect, particularly so in the brand's classic tie back knickers. This collection is inspired by the romance of Lucile.

Lucile Lowdown: Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week

Last week saw the return of the truly remarkable Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week with elegant and eccentric structures from a range of designers, from the traditional Couture of Dior to the modernised styles of Maison Martin Margiela. And as standard of any fashion week the celebrities were out in their forces, showcasing their luxury designer ensembles, and as of which we here at Lucile have picked our best dressed!

Chanel : Front Row - Paris Fashion Week : Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2014-2015

Kicking it all off with Poppy Delevingne in sleek Chanel Couture. We love this dress for its elegant colour of not quite grey and the sheer lace overlay that gives in interesting pleated trim to finish. This dress is a great summer shape, giving a truly flattering feminine style.

Next is Chinese Actress Zhang Ziyi wearing Dior. We love this ensemble as it is the sculptured shape that Dior pioneered for women. The full skirt ‘New Look’ style coat is a really graceful tailored look.

sweetnes of love

As we all know Jenifer Lawrence makes an appearance on every best dressed list, and rightly so! As a Dior ambassador this youthful yet elegant dress uses soft tones to give a fresh light weight look, added with a minimal textile print for a clean edge. We love this outfit, there is an essence of our fresh white collection ‘Sweetness of Love’ using small details to create a unique look.

rue de penthievre

Last but not least is Charlize Theron in this stunning power dress! Again in Dior, this gold backless number stole the show. The simple structured mini is a Lucile favourite, reminding us in a way of our metallic gold collection ‘Rue De Penthievre’ for a true luxurious look and feel.  J’adore Dior!

What are your favourite looks from the elegant and prestigious event?

Wimbledon Through The Decades

With Wimbledon well underway we here at Lucile decided to look at Women’s tennis and its fashion through the decades. From the highly impractical of the 1900s to the stylish sportswear it is today.

1906 + 1926

First is the transition from 1906 to the 1920s. In the years before Chanel even women’s sportswear were full dresses paired with lace and trim! Moving onto the 20s and waist-lines have changed and hem-lines have become somewhat more practical. This sportswear look is most certainly one of the 1920s, the flapper girls of tennis…

1974 + 1990Jumping forward to the 1970s and shorts have made their debut. Reducing the excess fabric and embracing the shorts (yet keeping the traditional tennis whites) proves that women were being taken seriously in the sport but could still express their style and femininity.

Next to the 1990s and the splash of colour! This is the style of women’s sportswear that we recognise today.

2003 + 2014

We move on to the early 00s of 2003 introducing shapes and curves that gives a feminine yet strong look. And finally we come to this year’s Wimbledon 2014 and todays seamless shapes and femininity!

A constant throughout the decades is the sleek white of an ever changing tennis kit. It wouldn’t be tennis without it!

Sweetness of Love

Check out the Lucile website for our sleek white collection Sweetness of Love. However we don’t advise playing tennis in the collection!
